First and foremost: you can access and rent all the available titles by logging in your Vimeo account. In case you don’t have one, you will need to sign up with your email or Facebook/Google/Apple account. You may do so through the registration dialogue box of the Ethnofest player (registration is free, but, depending on your browser settings, you may be redirected to a third party webpage) or by clicking the link –here-.

Once you have logged in, you can access the screening environment by clicking on the “watch” button found on the profile page of each respective title. Some videos refer to shorts collections rather than single feature films; in such a case you may access the video through the profile of any of the films included in the collection.

Now, once the screening window opens and while you are watching the festival’s trailer, you can rent the film(s) by clicking the “Rent” button; you can also rent the whole online selection for a discounted rate (30€ for all the 25 online slots). In this case you will need to click on the blue colored “Rent all” link, found in the description text on the very left of the payment dialogue box, or click on the Rent All button that will show up right after the festival’s trailer. You can complete the transaction directly through the dialogue box, by filling your credit/debit card details. Don’t neglect to add your ZIP code and select Greece as your country of residence from the dropdown menu (all the Ethnofest films are exclusively available in Greece). You can alternatively use your PayPal account; clicking on the logo at the top of the page, you will be prompted to PayPal’s secure payment environment. In case you have a discount/promo code you will need to click on the “Apply Promo Code” text and enter your code in the text box that will appear; the price will be then automatically adjusted.

After the transaction is complete, the rental is activated and is valid for 72 hours or until the video is withdrawn from the Ethnofest screening platform. Almost all films will be available for exactly 72 hours, meaning if you rent a film at 5pm on the day that it began streaming you then have 55 hours left). In the meantime, you can watch the film as many times as you like.

In case you rent a shorts collection, you can navigate to the title of your choice by using the timestamps on the player’s progress bar. On the right of the progress bar you can also find the subtitles menu (CC) – the majority of the Ethnofest 12 films are screened with hard-coded or soft English subtitles.

In case you completed a transaction through the Ethnofest player but it still requires you to rent the purchased title, there is probably a problem with the cache memory settings of your browser. But worry not, you can rent all the videos you have rented in your account, following the link –here-.
