The Memory of Glitch

The film portrays a forensics of memory in a digital landscape. Based on three months of fieldwork and digital research, the filmmaker connects her personal experiences of loss with her explorations of a fire affected landscape, where people live and work with the consequences of disaster and climate change.

Suzanne Schaaf

Suzanne Schaaf holds a bachelor in theatre directing and teaching (Amsterdam University of the Arts), and a master’s degree in visual anthropology (UvA). Her work is often connected to placemaking, memory, landscape and transition. Her master’s graduation film The Memory of Glitch was shown at the RAI conference (2023) and Freiburg Filmforum (2023). She prefers to work interdisciplinary when doing research, where the outcome isn’t fixed on one form or product but is intrinsically connected to the research process. She grew up in the Netherlands, but has developed a strong connection with the United States where her family comes from.
