Anisa Xhomaqi

Anisa Xhomaqi, (Ani Jo), was born in Tirana in 1993 and grew up in Greece. She has been photographing and creating visual art since she was very young. From her high school years she took pictures for Soul Magazine. She later studied Photography and Audiovisual Arts at the Athens University of Applied Sciences and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, Italy. She participated in photography exhibitions and festivals such as Athens Photo Festival (Young Greek Photographers of 2015 & 2019), Addis Foto Fest (Ethiopia 2018), Kythera Photo Encounters (Greece 2013 & 2016), Home Festival Treviso (Italy 2014), Biennale of Mediterranean Artists (Greece 2011). Xhomaqi’s latest work also includes short documentaries for socially engaged projects and also her personal documentary ‘Like Aphrodite’ completed during the Master’s of Visual Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. Currently, Xhomaqi is based as a freelance photographer and filmmaker in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
