The Children of Kypseli Square

This short film comprises a composition of spontaneous instances illustrating children’s use of urban space around Kanari square in Kypseli- Athens. The filmmakers let themselves be guided into an ordinary, open metropolitan location, which nonetheless forms one of the most important meeting points and an exciting imagination- and sociability outlet for children in the entire area. In times of crisis, in one of the most multicultural, working- class districts of central Athens that becomes gradually transformed into a “neighborhood of the unemployed”, children’s joyful energy demonstrates the importance of preserving free to access for all- public spaces and reminds us of the fabulous wealth entailed in their existence.
