The director delves into her grandfather’s harrowing past in his political participation in Thailand and Malaysia in the 1950s, in which he has been accused as a “Malayan Communist”, jailed and expelled. A personal history searching journey in Malaysia and Thailand does not reveal an intimate family portrait but the insurmountable force that twisted the destiny of the vulnerable.
Ching Wong
Ching Wong is a journalist and editor at various newspapers and magazines in Hong Kong, including Mingpao Newspaper and Fleurs des Lettres. She was a scriptwriter and actor in the Hong Kong dystopian fiction anthology film ‘Ten Years’ (2015), which was awarded the Best Film in the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards. She studied MA in Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths University of London and is currently based in the UK.
