The erudite and indigent Sami lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Nearing sixty—and in urgent survival mode—he has just completed a scholarly work in Amharic about Greco-Roman mythology, which he intends to publish, come hell or high water. In this booming African capital, Sami is a modern-day Odysseus chasing his dreams no matter what.
Robin Dimet
Robin Dimet studied cinema at the University of Paris VIII, and then joined the National Institute of Cinematography in Russia (VGIK). Fluent in Russian, he spent fifteen years in the former USSR making films, working for the Russian television, and as artistic director for a film festival in Kazakhstan. He is chief editor for a dozen documentary films and has directed several short documentaries and short fiction films. The Odysseys of Sami (2022) is his first feature film.
