The film focuses on the preservation of nature through religious beliefs and the fear of supernatural punishment. In the mountainous settlements of Epirus, the sacred forests function management systems adapted to the local communities. They are mainly related to the functional needs of the communities, such as the preservation of vital natural resources or the protection of nearby settlements from natural disasters. Today, in addition to their other values, they are important places for the preservation of the special biodiversity they develop. Since 2014 they have been included in the National Index of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
