What does ageing mean in a society when lives become longer? Two young filmmakers follow four regulars of Hamburg’s Faltenrock party scene where you have to be over 60 to get in. Only one thing is certain: retirement doesn’t have to mean that life is coming to a standstill.
Janina Rasch
Janina Rasch, born 1985 in Flensburg, studiedLiterature and Media Science, Sociology and Psychology at the CAU in Kiel. In cooperation with the House of Documentary Film in Stuttgart, she organizes documentary film industry meetings DOKVILLE and founds the monthly documentary film series YoungDOK. She worked at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg as a producer on two documentary films and became a team member of 18frames film + medienproduktion in 2014. In the same year, she visited a Documentary Masterschool in Münster where she developed the idea which finally led to Faltenrock in cooperation with Leonie Kock. Faltenrock is her documentary debut.
Leonie Kock
Leonie Kock, born 1987, grew up in Aschaffenburg. After graduating from high school, she settled in Guadalajara Mexico, and learned analog black and white photography. Back in Germany, she studied cultural anthropology with a focus on visual anthropology. At the end of her studies, she got involved in urban culture initiatives and discovered the event Faltenrock, where she worked ath the bar and as DJ for 4 years and developed the idea of the film. Since autumn 2017 she studies documentary film at the Independent Film School filmArche in Berlin. Faltenrock is her documentary debut.
