Irina Linke is a documentary filmmaker and social anthropologist from Hamburg, Germany. She graduated from the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts (HfbK) with a focus on documentary film and holds a D.E.A. in Social Anthropology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She has made films in Russia, Cameroun and Yemen and has worked as a camera woman and cutter. For four years she was a part of the interdisciplinary graduate program “”Intercultural Communication – Intercultural Competence””, attached to the Institute of Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen. For her forthcoming PhD she did one year of fieldwork in Yemen and used a filmic approach to the field. Her research interests are documentary film, visual culture and gender.
