Dimitris Papageorgiou

 

Dimitris Papageorgiou is a teacher at the University of the Aegean, in the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication. He has been involved in researching various aspects of the musical culture of the Northern Aegean since 1996. His work includes documenting interviews, photographs, and video recordings, as well as digitizing and promoting archival material. He has also been involved in creating web and stand-alone applications, designing multimedia exhibitions, and producing documentaries. Some of his notable works include a documentary on viticulture and winemaking in Lemnos and Cyprus (with Alexandros Spathis), a documentary called “When pine trees had a face” (by Irini Spathi) and has also collaborated with Alexandros Spathis on various other projects, such as the documentary titled “Fires after me. Amanes song in Northern Aegean”, a documentary on Michael Cacoyannis and a documentary called “Janus’ Legacy: Refugee Passage to Europe,” which won the first prize at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival.
