A Sunday afternoon—with most Greeks enjoying a walk in the city—unusual songs catch passengers’ attention near Koliatsou Square. As we follow the music, we see African people entering a white door with the phrase Lord is my Banner on a doorplate. Hallelujah is an observational documentary about the everyday life in an African Christian church in the centre of Athens.
Ioanna Spanou
Ioanna Spanou is a documentary filmmaker who is interested in making films giving the audience a feeling of discovering a new world. She is focusing mostly in multicultural issues and unknown communities. In recent years, she has been exclusively involved in the production of videos for the mass media, has directed two short documentaries, and has been editing the doc series Greeks Citizens of the World (2021). She has also completed her documentary studies at the University of the Aegean and won a scholarship for the Journalism Video Workshop at Columbia University.
